Water Footprints and Water Saving Contract

What is Water Footprint?

Water Footprint refers to the volume of water used to produce various products and services.

Why Water Footprint Is Important?

Measuring water footprint and taking all the necessary steps to keep that level as low as possible is extremely important for mankind. This balance is urgently required because freshwater is vital to our daily life while the supply of freshwater is limited. As the world population expands, so does the need for fresh water. Measures to keep water footprint level low, soon are needed to conserve fresh water supply.

  On March, we give some basic information about "What is Water Footprint?" to our students and then we had them to calculate their own water footprints to see the big picture more clearly bu using this site https://waterfootprint.org/en/resources/interactive-tools/personal-water-footprint-calculator/personal-calculator-extended/.

They really got surprised to see their own water footprints on nature and they designed a visual to share water footprints with their peers in the projects. The visulas were like;

After they see their own footprints precisely with numbers,we came together and talked about how much humans can destroy water resources if they do not care or how quickly the clean water resources will dissappear off the face of the earth,yet there are some measurements we -as being the humanity-  can do to change this threat.So we prepared a water saving contract and want from our students to think upon it and then create an avatar on voki which vocalize this contract on behalf of themYou can see our water saving contract below:

. Thankfully our students pleasedly took part in this activity and some schools in the project make a video of these avatars speaking and upload it on youtube to make more people see it and raise more awareness on water resources and decreasing of clean water day by day. If you like, below you can have the chance to watch one of those videos on youtube;

After these activities, we know that apart from sharing ideas with their peers and learning some new things on water resources, each of our students took one more step to be a responsible citizen and a natural guard of clean water of the Earth.
